Our Story
Several years ago, I was going commercial, residential, banquet and country club interior design. Mixed in were a few churches as well. Then one day a past client asked if I would talk with his friend who was building a facility for his family-owned business. You guessed it. The friend owned a funeral home. I promised I would meet with the dad and two sons... but wasn't exactly sure this was something I wanted to do. After meeting with the owners and keeping an open-mind, I told them that I knew a good deal about interior design and if they would be patient with my questions, we would give this a whirl.
We did.
And it was awesome!
I'm so appreciative of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home for the ability to learn the craft of designing a funeral home from the ground up.
And funeral facilities are all we've done for the past 25 years.
Our Purpose
We help funeral home owners brand their business through interior design. Our design must have a long-lasting, positive effect on their bottom line.
We help friends and family to talk more freely, grieve more easily and celebrate more fully, the life of a loved one.
The Birth of ChapX
Over the years we've had the opportunity to work with hundreds of funeral home owners with the interior design of their spaces.
In that time, it was necessary to specify and place many wood folding chairs that were too small for today's families, many clunky casket biers with ornate corner metals, prayer kneelers that looked like they had been made in 1920, and torchiere lamps that actually looked gothic. It wasn't that we desired to do this - it's just that there were no other choices.
We decided that was enough.
We drafted plans for a new look. Put those in CAD. Developed prototypes and tested those - developed more prototypes. Sourced responsible, sustainable materials, built more prototypes and took those to test. After beta testing, and design revisions, we took our ideas to market.
And what an amazing response!
